2026 Events
Contour Marking Workshop
- Saturday March 7th 10am-1pm
- $15-30 Sliding Scale Suggested Donation (we will send a link a few days ahead of time once we’ve got a nice weather report – but don’t let cost prevent you from coming!)
Join us to mark out the contour lines for a new agroforestry system at the Farmstead School and hand-dig the beginning of each swale (a mini ex will do the rest!) You will learn how to use a laser level, strategies for site marking, key thought processes around laying out an on-contour grazing system, and decision parameters for the depth, size, and shaping of swales. This workshop is geared towards those with basic or theoretical understanding of key ecological design/permaculture principles and looking for a little real-life, hands-on experience. If you know what a contour swale is, you’re probably a good fit! Capped at 10 participants.
Please check back – our other 2026 events will be posted by mid-March.

Are you interested in becoming a volunteer member of the Niwot Homestead? The Niwot Homestead hosts volunteer days every Sunday March-November, followed by a farm to table meal. Members get a chance to participate in the full spectrum of activities connected to stewarding diverse farm systems.
