We work at the intersection of ecology, community, and agriculture. Our volunteer membership program provides an accessible way for members to learn about agroecology, participate in a wide array of homesteading activities, and share in food and community. We also offer a variety of programs to support aspiring land stewards in starting and continuing their journeys.

Our Principles
- Food as an Ecology Rather Than Economy. Most regenerative agriculture asks how we can make traditional commodity cropping systems more sustainable–small changes to inherently industrial systems. We are coming from a different approach, which is how can we create healthy ecosystems that meet our complete dietary needs? Our goal is to have farm systems that look and function like forests, prairies, and meadows, which we tend as a keystone species–shaping but not controlling ecosystems that feed us.
- Honoring All Living Beings. We practice a kinship-based approach to the living world, respecting the inherent wisdom and life force of all plants, animals, and insects and seeing them as teachers and allies. We do not believe any plant, animal, or insect is inherently a pest.
- Additive Solutions. There is a saying in permaculture that solutions should be additive, not subtractive. Rather than eliminating a โpest,โ we figure out what needs to be added to the system to restore balance.
- Relationship Over Automation. As the world trends to more and more automation, modern humans become more and more disconnected. It is hard to see the backstory of our lives when we donโt participate in it. Whether it is hand threshing and winnowing wheat, or milking a goat, or harvesting a chicken, we provide the opportunity to reconnect with what it actually takes to keep you aliveโand with the gratitude, understanding, and connection that brings. Sometimes this means choosing the slower, more connected way over the fast way.
- Renewable Resources. While we may occasionally use fossil fuels for one-time projects, we lean into biological solutions and human-power to accomplish the ongoing maintenance of farm systems.
- The Power of Community. We have witnessed how much can be accomplished when people come together with their hands and their hearts. We focus on cultivating a space where we can all grow to our full potential, together, learning to relate to one another as collaborators and friends.
- Incubating Innovation. We donโt believe we have all the answers. We do believe that by creating a space to come together with the same core values, intentions, and shared experiences, we can catalyze many more leaders and projects to create a network that humbly manifests the future we envision.
